成语在英译汉中的尺度摘要:汉语成语是汉语言文化中最美丽的财富之一,它千锤百炼,短小精悍,体现了中国人民海纳百川的情怀和包揽万象的能力。
经历了世代先祖的传承后,如今作为中国特有自然遗产的前驱,成语更是赋予当代文化深远的意义。
在翻译过程中,适当的应用成语,会使语言生动富有文采,但是究竟什么样的尺度才可以生“花”而不是“拙”?本文将从成语在英译汉中所起到的作用及其翻译方法来分析在翻译过程中使用成语的尺度。

翻译过程中,尤其是在英译汉中,如果适当的翻译成汉语成语,不仅使译文形式整齐,生动简洁,言简意丰,而且增加了文采,使文章增色不少,更富感染力;加之英汉两种语言在情感表述上的相似处,雷同成语广泛的出现在我们的翻译中,然而,过多的应用成语,会使译文流露出不自然性,这必然造成了与原文的行文风格不符性。
恰到好处才是成语应用的妙笔之处,把握这个尺度并不容易,抑或过多抑或没有,因此需要译者具有扎实的语言功底和驾驭能力。
另外,英语与汉语有“同”更有“异”,在文化方面尤为明显,所以在英译汉中,对自己把握不是很大的成语翻译,翻还是不翻?会增加文采还是弄巧成拙?这又是一个尺度把握的问题。
