Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the first African American to hold the office of President. Before entering politics, Obama worked as a community organizer and a civil rights attorney.
Obama attended Columbia University and Harvard Law School. He then taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School. In 2004, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, and four years later, he was elected President.
