连词在句中的作用是把词与词、短语与短语、句子与句子连接起来。它不能在句中单独作句子成分。

知识点概述

并列连词和从属连词的用法

连词是连结单词、短语、从句或句子的虚词，在句子中不单独作句子成份。

连词按其性质可分为：

1．并列连词如：and, or, but, for, 等，连接并列的词与词，短语与短语，句子与句子。

如：Rice and potatoes are common foods. （词与词）

Today we can travel by plane. （短语与短语）

Many trees lose their leaves in winter, but evergreen trees do not. （句子与句子）

关联连词是一类成对使用的连词

如：both……and……, not……but…….

not only……but also…… not only…but… as well

eit her……or…… neither……nor……

关联连词必须后接同样的语法结构。

如：Either the windows were opened or the door was opened.

2．从属连词如：that, whether, when, because, though 等，用以引导名词性从句和状语从句。

3．从属连词引导的从句不可以被断成一个句子。如果断开，就错了。

并列连词

知识精讲

一、连词是一种虚词，它不能独立担任句子成分只起连接词与词，短语与短语以及句与句的作用。

二、连词分为并列连词和从属连词。

1. 并列连词：是指连接对等的词、短语和句子，而不是连接主句与从句的连词。

2. 从属连词：指连接主句与从句的连词。

三、并列连词分为四类：

1. 表并列关系的并列连词。例：

My uncle lives and works in Shanghai.

我叔叔在上海居住和工作。

Both New York and London have traffic problems.

纽约和伦敦都存在交通问题。

It is neither too cold nor too hot in spring.

春天既不太冷也不太热。

My daughter can not only sing but also dance.

我的女儿不仅能唱，还会跳。

2. 表转折关系的并列连词。例：

Mr. Black is very poor, but he feels happy.

Black先生很穷，但他感到很快乐。

One lost a leg, another lost an arm, while a third was killed outright (马上、干脆).

一个人折了一条腿，一个人丢了一条胳膊，然而另外一个人当场死了。

3. 表因果关系的并列连词。例：
