Students will get a lot of fun with knowing about the information about the Mekong River. Meanwhile, it’s really a good way for them to broaden horizons to the world when learning different kinds of rivers in the world.Words and expressions are about countries’ name in Southeast Asia. Students just need to be familiar with them and try to use them in their daily life.Actually, we must admit that Senior One students, who have learned English for over four years, have a basic ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing. According to the students’ ability, I adopt the level teaching using different learning methods for different students.To good students, I ask them to do individual presentation. Brainstorming to search detailed information and express their own opinions about the topic. This lesson is about Travel journal.This lesson is a warming-up and pre-reading class. It is the first period of unit 3, a key part which leads the following parts, setting up a foundation to analyze and use the language.In the warming-up part, students are informed of different kinds of transportation and they need to tell out the advantages and disadvantages of them based on their own experience through brainstorm and discussion. It has a quite close relationship with not only the reading part but also the “using language” part.As for the pre-reading, it mainly deals with the information about the Mekong River. Meanwhile, with the guidance of teacher, students should master the ability of speaking out the things in their mind.Actually, the text in reading tells us the journey down the Mekong River. Thus, the warming-up and pre-reading provide the background knowledge for students.B. Teaching key points1. I develop the speaking skills in different strategies through the designed activities, such as discussion in English, answering questions of various levels, presentation etc, therefore to arouse their speaking interest and set up right opinions on life-long learning.ⅥTeaching methodology:A.
