U校园新视野大学英语1读写教程答案Unit 2 Loving parents, loving childrenSection A2-2 Text A: A child's clutter awaits an adult's returnPre-reading activitiesPre-reading activities-1参考:Answers will vary. All answers are acceptable.Pre-reading activities-21) I am very close to my parents. In fact, we are like friends. I never keep a secret from them. When I have problems, I ask them for their advice. They give me directions about life. I like this relationship with my parents, and I think this is what parent-child relationship should be like.2) If I were not very close to my parents, I would do the following to improve our relationship:find out where the problem is and talk to my parents about it;do something that makes them happy;call them often when I am away from home;keep them informed of what I am doing;care for their feelings;be open and willing to communicate.Reading comprehensionReading comprehension-11) The daughter bought a large and expensive vehicle probably because her mother advised her to buy a practical and gas-efficient car. The daughter did this on purpose because at this age, she was being rebellious.2) The mother wants to show that although her daughter tries to show she is an adult, actually she is not.3) The mother is happy that her daughter is independent now, but on the other hand, she feels doubtful whether her daughter could take good care of herself.4) The mother wants to show that her daughter is not ready to be an adult yet.5) The mother puts her daughter's books onto a single shelf to deal with later.6) The mother finds an envelope with items such as old family photographs, letters, greeting cards, and love notes they gave their daughter and sees the words "DO NOT THROW AWAY" marked on the envelope. Her attitude then changes.7) At first the mother decides to throw some of the items away and donate the rest to charity. After she sees the brown envelope, she changes her mind and puts them back in place.8) Because the mother knows that the sweet childhood memories will bring her daughter back.Reading comprehension-21) If I were the daughter, I would be very much touched when I read the article. I would call my mom to say sorry for acting rebelliously and would tell her how much I love her. Probably I would return home as soon as I can.2) I don't think it is wise to refuse parents' advice or even do the opposite without a good reason. Your parents care about you more than anybody else and always want to share their experience with you. If you follow their advice, you can at least learn from their experience and avoid making some silly mistakes. If you don't take their advice, you may still get experience but in a hard way. Besides, your parents may directly point out your weaknesses that your peers wouldn't. So, listening to your parents' advice can make you smarter and help you grow mature.3) Good communication will, in my view, help build a good relationship. The following are my ways to strengthen communication with my parents:visit them whenever possible;invite them to see what I am doing at college;teach them to use new communication tools, such as WeChat and Skype, so that they can communicate with me wherever I am;try to look at things from their perspectives; andshare with them my feelings, problems or ambitions.4) Although there is no standard pattern for a good parent-child relationship, some common factors can contribute to a more successful relationship:respect each other;support and encourage each other;understand each other;love each other;have fun together; andbe friends.5) Yes, many parents are expecting too much of their children. First, most families have only one child and parents want to make a perfect child out of them. Second, competition is intense in school and at work today. So parents want their children to learn as much as possible so as to gain advantages over others in competition. It's not uncommon that some parents force their children to achieve what is even hard for adults. But they ignore the fact that winning is not the onlyimportant thing and that children should have their own enjoyment and preferences. No, I don't think parents today are expecting too much of their children. Competition is becoming increasingly intense in school and at the workplace. So it is natural for parents to help their children to make full use of their talent and become as competitive as possible. They know better about how far their children can go. Besides, more and more parents, including my parents, think it is more important for their children to be healthy and happy. Of course, while they expect that their children study hard and achieve success, they should at the same time see to it that their children are not overworking themselves.2-3 Text A: Language focusWords in use1. awaits2. efficiency3. donation4. polished5. stuffed6. historical7. emotional8. embarrassed9. dump10. curbWords building: Practice Words building: Practice-11) employer2) compute3) interpret4) atomic5) artistic6) economic7) historic8) electron9) envious10) continuous11) fame12) varyWords building: Practice-21. interpreted2. employer3. artistic4. historic5. compute6. continuous7. economic8. fame9. electron10. atomic11. envious12. vary Banked cloze1) embarrassment2) ridiculous3) appreciate4) Otherwise5) emotional6) reverse7) reduce8) romantic9) overwhelmed10) beloved Expressions in use1. made it2. They may strongly object to your lifestyle and complain that you are wasting time on unimportant things. To solve this problem, you may try to make them understand that you are a responsible person. First tell them that you have inherited many of their merits. Then remind them that you have your own thoughts and life goals as an individual. You can also explain how your lifestyle will help you in a positive way. You may not be able to change your parents' opinions overnight, but if you keep trying, it will eventually work.2-5 TranslationTranslationTranslation-1参考:圣诞节是一个被广泛庆祝的文化节日,全世界有许许多多的人在12月25日庆祝这一节日。

After multiple exams for continuous writing, I realize most of students have little accumulation of verbs that can be applied into the corresponding continues writing part. The question of how to facilitate students making advanced sentences in continuous writing has been haunting me for a long time. With the aim of addressing the problem, I’d like to refer to the series of GoodEnglish9.For example, the big Race from The Ultimate Trainer could contribute to promoting continuation writing related with topic of races. While reading, students will gain the knowledge about how to describe actions and emotions for various roles, ranging from petitors, audiences to judges. It is very easy for students to find the phrases telling timelines, such as “It was almost time for the big race”, “The whistle blew and the race began”, “at the first lap” and so on. Then by the means of guiding students to sort out descriptive languages according to timelines, I hope students can handle the writing of crosscountry race in 2022 National College Entrance Examination as well as Hurdle Race in simulation test of Gaokao in 2023.(宁波十校联考)教学目标After the class, students are expected toØ master how to describe actions of running and learn descriptive words to show feelings, instead of tellingØ have a good mand of different writing sentence patternsØ get the hang of writing advanced sentence patterns with scaffoldingØ able to show runners’ actions and depict changes of characters’ feelingsØ cultivate the spirit of sportsmanship, perseverance and honesty教学重难点1. master how to describe actions of running and learn descriptive words to show feelings, instead of telling2. have a good mand of various writing sentence patterns3. get the hang of writing advanced sentence patterns with scaffolding教学过程Step 1: Warming upl Show students a video clip about a running petitionl Invite students to accumulate descriptions about runningPurpose: to introduce the topic of The Big Race.Step 2: Leadinl Ask students to read for the structure of the passagel Identify the genre of the passagel Read for the settingPurpose: to get the basic idea of the passageStep 3: Careful Readingl Put forward a series of questions based on the six elements of a narrationl Ask students to answer questions or plete sentences based on the textl Share tips for reading prehension and writingl Identify changing feelings of different charactersl Accumulate synonymsPurpose: to let students know the development of the whole storyto accumulate accurate verbs or phrases into describing scenes of race petitionto facilitate students making advanced sentence patterns(无灵主语,动作链,三大从句, 独立主格结构, with的复合结构, 非谓语, 比喻修辞手法, 倒装句训练等)to expand students’ vocabularyto enhance students reading abilityStep 4: Summaryl Illustrate the plot map and present the emotion line of the main charactersPurpose: to let students retell the whole story and how to describe the changes of character’s feelingsStep 5: Deliberate PracticePractice 1 : Cross country race in 2022 Gaokao Micro WritingPractice 2:l Present a similar situation where someone got involved in a race petitionl Understand the setting of different storiesl Guide students to employ useful expressions from The Big RacePurpose: to know how to apply accurate verbs or phrases into describing performances towards runningStep 6: Present paradigmsl Ask students to revise their first draft and invite several students to share their final version according to the checklistl Provide a possible version for students’ reference. Some people might think that university is the place only for study and other activities like
sports and social works are not important at all. As a college student, however, I would
rather do sports or have some social works at my free time thanmerely have classes the
whole day. Itotally agree with that the financial support should be launched by the
department at university since they are indeed as important as classes.
The after-class activities will not be charming enough to draw students` attention unless
they are financially supported. As a result, less and less students would join them. To tell
the truth, it`s hard for me to imagine how boring the life is if there are only professional
courses at university during the day without other activities. It is not a senior high school
but a college. As is known to us all, Chinese high school students spend nearly all day
studying at class to prepare for the national college entrance examination when they are
in grade 3.It is really boring and disappointing. Besides, only putting emphasis on classes
in some way will not make students as efficient as they want to be since they could be
tired after a long-time studying. In other words, it is totally a waste of time to study when
students are tired. At the same time, students` emotion would be effected and they may
feel depressed about facing classes without after-class activities. That is not a good sign if
students keep like this.
On the contrary, everything would have a change if financial support is launched in time.
Firstly, activities like doing sports and doing social works can develop students` interests
and improve students in an all-around way. Not only do students improve their
professional skills but also develop other skills when they participate in those activities,
not to mention the improvement of the students` quality at university. Secondly, proper
after-class activities are going to benefit study. As far as I am concerned, social activities,
playing basketball or something like this make me relaxed after studying for a long time.
Thus I can study more attentively and take full advantage of time. In addition, after-class
activities benefit both physical and mental health as it gets students to go outside to take a
break or to communicate with other people instead of students` locking themselves at
classrooms.
To summarize, varieties of after-class activities might bring us a better college life and
there is every reason to believe that these activities are as essential as classes. Therefore,
relevant departmentsfrom the colleges or the local government are supposed to give
financial support without any hesitation to develop organizations to hold these activities.
