为什么春节是中国最重要节日的英语作文Why Spring Festival is the Most Important Holiday in China
Spring Festival is the biggest and most important holiday in China. Also called Chinese New Year, it is a time for families to get together, celebrate the new year, and take part in many fun traditions. I always look forward to Spring Festival every year!
One of the main reasons Spring Festival is so important is because it brings families together. Many people who live and work in the big cities will travel back to their hometowns to reunite with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. My uncle lives in Shanghai which is very far away, but he always comes home for Spring Festival. The whole family gets to spend several days together eating delicious meals, catching up, and having fun.
The eve of Spring Festival is the most exciting part. We have a huge reunion dinner with all our favorite foods like dumplings, noodles, fish, and other tasty dishes. Eating fish is supposed to bring good luck because the Chinese word for fish sounds like the word for "surplus" or "abundance." After dinner, we give out red envelopes with money inside to the kids. I always feel so happy getting my red envelope! We also set off firecrackers and
fireworks at midnight to welcome the new year and scare away any evil spirits.
Another big tradition is cleaning the house from top to bottom before the new year starts. My grandma says we have to sweep away any bad luck from the old year and make room for incoming good luck. We also decorate with red lanterns, couplets with auspicious sayings, and papercuttings of luck symbols like the word "fu" meaning fortune. Everywhere is bright red which symbolizes happiness and good fortune.
My favorite part of Spring Festival is getting to wear brand new clothes and shoes on New Year's Day. They have to be new to signify a fresh start to the year. I always feel so excited putting on my new outfit and showing it off to my family. Then we go around visiting relatives and friends to pay our respects and wish them a happy new year. It's fun seeing all my cousins' new outfits too!
For about two weeks, there are so many fun activities and shows happening for Spring Festival. There are dragon and lion dances, acrobat performances, temples with amazing displays and fireworks, and lots of stalls selling delicious snacks and toys. One year when I was younger, I got a little drum toy that I played nonstop! Another time, I watched folk artists making intricate
sugar figurines shaped like animals. They were so beautiful and delicate.
At school before the holiday, we always do lots of special arts and crafts related to Spring Festival. We make paper lanterns, Chinese knots out of red string, paper cuttings, and drawings of cute little pigs since the new year animal changes each year. The teachers teach us about the history behind all the traditions which I find really interesting. Spring Festival has been celebrated for over 4000 years!
I love Spring Festival because it's the one time of year I get to be with my entire family while we carry on all the exciting customs and traditions. From the reunion dinner to the fireworks, red envelopes, new clothes, and fun activities, it's such an energizing and happy time. Even though I'm still young, I can feel how meaningful this holiday is for keeping our Chinese culture alive from generation to generation. I look forward to Spring Festival every single year!。
