He’s amazingly calm, isn’t he? It’s partly bravery, of course, but it’s also just accepting whatever happens and not getting fussed by it. I suppose his lack of a family meant he was used to being alone. He wanted to sail on – his life must have been rather empty and the adventure had actually given him new interest. It’s very strange.
