First of all, we must make sure that our clearly defined goals are achievable, and that our carefully designed means are practicable. And we set up our mind persisting. Do not, for one repulse, give up the purpose that you resolved to effect. If we want to achieve our dream, the best way is that never give up, never.There are so many problems in our life, maybe sometimes they will obstruct the way to our goal. Some people are readily to quit when they feel they cannot endure the difficulties of some work or they think they cannot find a way to finish the required task. Such people usually become upset and disappointed of failure and lose their self-confidence, although they virtually can do everything well.Probably the greatest example of persistence is Abraham Lincoln. Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown. Yet he never gave up, which made his later success inevitable and become one of the greatest presidents in the history of the USA.In short, it is important that we do not give up when working for our goals. In this essay, I will give you an example of the attempt of a great inventor of the world named Thomas Edison.I am quite sure that everybody knows Thomas Edison. He made many inventions during his lifetime. According to his biography, it states that he always met obstacles in order to invent something. However, he still kept trying in order to meet his goals. I personally think that this is the most important thing that made him reach his goals. Some scientists said that it was impossible to invent something such as electric light and movie projector. The ten months that have passed have seen very terrible catastrophic events inthe world - ups and downs, misfortunes - but can anyone sitting here this afternoon, this October afternoon, not feel deeply thankful for what has happened in the time that has passed and for the very great improvement in the position of our country and of our home? Why, when I was here last time we were quite alone, desperately alone, and we had been so for five or six months. We were poorly armed. We are not so poorlyarmed today; but then we were very poorly armed.
