It refers to the economic model in which people share their resources, such as their cars, homes or skills, with others in exchange for money or other benefits. The sharing economy has been made possible by the development of the Internet and mobile technology.B) One of the most well - known examples of the sharing economy is Airbnb. Airbnb allows people to rent out their homes or apartments to travelers. This has provided an alternative to traditional hotels and has been very popular with travelers who want to experience a more local way ofliving. Another example is Uber. Uber allows people to use their own cars to provide transportation services to others.C) The sharing economy has several advantages. First, it can make more efficient use of resources. For example, if a car is sitting idle in a driveway, it can be rented out through a car - sharing service. Second, it can provide more affordable options for consumers. For example, Airbnb rentals are often cheaper than hotel rooms. Third, it can create new economic opportunities for people. For example, people can earn extra money by renting out their homes or driving for Uber.D) However, the sharing economy also has some challenges. One challenge is the lack of regulation. Since the sharing economy is a relatively new phenomenon, there are not always clear rules and regulations governing it. This can lead to issues such as safety concerns and unfair competition. Another challenge is the impact on traditional industries. For example, the growth of Airbnb has had an impact on the hotel industry, and the growth of Uber has had an impact on the taxi industry.E) In order to address these challenges, governments around the world are starting to develop regulations for the sharing economy. For example, some cities have introduced regulations for Airbnb rentals, such aslimiting the number of days a property can be rented out per year. And some countries have introduced regulations for Uber drivers, such as requiring them to have a certain level of insurance.F) Despite these challenges, the sharing economy is likely to continue to grow in the future. As the Internet and mobile technology continue to develop, it will become even easier for people to share their resources. And as more people become aware of the advantages of the sharing economy, more and more people will be likely to participate in it.34. The sharing economy is made possible by the Internet and mobile technology. (A)35. Airbnb is an example of the sharing economy that allows people to rent out their homes. (B)36. One advantage of the sharing economy is that it can make more efficient use of resources. (C)37. The lack of regulation is a challenge for the sharing economy. (D)38. Governments are starting to develop regulations for the sharing economy. (E)39. Despite challenges, the sharing economy is likely to keep growing.(F)40.

The Bias Resistor Transistor (BRT) contains a single transistor with a monolithic bias network consisting of two resistors; a series base resistor and a base-emitter resistor. The BRT eliminates these individual components by integrating them into a single device. The use of a BRT can reduce both system cost and board space.Features•Simplifies Circuit Design•Reduces Board Space•Reduces Component Count•S and NSV Prefix for Automotive and Other Applications Requiring Unique Site and Control Change Requirements;AEC-Q101 Qualified and PPAP Capable*•These Devices are Pb-Free, Halogen Free/BFR Free and are RoHS CompliantMAXIMUM RATINGS(T A = 25°C both polarities Q1 (PNP) & Q2 (NPN), unless otherwise noted) Rating Symbol Max Unit Collector-Base Voltage V CBO50Vdc Collector-Emitter Voltage V CEO50Vdc Collector Current − Continuous I C100mAdc Input Forward Voltage V IN(fwd)40Vdc Input Reverse Voltage V IN(rev)10Vdc Stresses exceeding those listed in the Maximum Ratings table may damage the device.
下载地址:/search.asp? 下载地址:/search.asp?Keyword=monkeys%20audio,首先运行这个猴子软件…… 选择下箭头下拉列表中的Decompress(解压)……

Moved Playback Page display on Quartz:W e have moved the location of the playback page display on the Quartz to the right of the playbacks. This ensures that the playback legends now line up with the playback faders.2. Merge Palette Defaults to Shared:W e have changed the guessed palette type when merging information into an existing palette. It will now select shared instead of global. This is to allow easy access to updating palettes with specific fixture type information. It will still change to normal if differing information is detected in the programmer.3. Made CITP more tolerant of Bad Devices:W ith the previous version, if a device reported bad CITP information the device would beignored. W e have changed this so as much of the good information is used as possible. In some cases it allows you to still patch and see thumbnails from those devices. The user will still have to correct the bad data. This was added to allow versions of Arkaos to be patched when reporting malformed CITP information.4. ArtNet Legacy Frame Rate Option:A new ArtNet option has been added which allows full frame rate across all universes. This canbe set by enabling the Legacy mode in the ArtNet settings. W e have added this forcompatibility with the DP2000 ArtNet to DMX converter. This setting will seriously effect the performance of your ArtNet and should only be used with the DP2000 device.5. ArtNet Overrun:The overrun option added to ArtNet allows you to specify that the console resends the last changed DMX frame 3 times before entering reduced frame rate operation. Although not part of the standard this was added for greater compatibility with certain ArtNet recievers such as the Artistic License Etherlynx 2.Bugs Fixed1. All Pixel Map Outputs Freeze:Around once every 5 days of contuinuous use, all Pixel Map outputs from the desk will freeze. It is not possible to create new effects or fire new effects.2. Backup console stuck in Safe Mode:Sometimes when you shutdown the master console the backup console gets stuck in safemode. You have to restart the software to output DMX.3. New Show does not reset DMX Module Options:W hen performing a new show all DMX module options such as ArtNet and Streaming ACNsettings are not reset.4. Remote UI may stop updating for cetain parameters:W hen connected to a master console the UI on the remote console may stop updating forcertain parameters. This only ocurrs when in a Multi-User enviroment on consoles that are not the master.5. Corrupt characters from ArtNet Poll prevent saving DMX settings:Some ArtNet devices may report corrupted or unsupported characters in the ArtPoll response.W hen these nodes are added to your show the entire DMX configuration is not saved in the show file.6. Software crash with session lost screen:W e have fixed crash issues which would result in Session Lost screens appearing to the user even when not in a session.7. Name "Broadcast Streaming ACN" incorrectly used:W hen Assigning Streaming ACN outputs, the nodes show up in DMX Settings as "Broadcast Streaming ACN". It should say Streaming ACN Universe X.8. Avolites AI, Patched with 1 Fixture through Active Fixture:W hen patching AI through active fixture, only a single fixture would be patched rather than the full number of fixtures. This only applies to AI V8 Beta release. The latest release on AI V8 is required.9. Playback Key Profile setting is not copied:W hen copying a playback, the selected key profile setting for the playback is not copied.10. Individual attribute clear causes fixture to realease:In certain circumstances when Locating a fixture then changing and clearing a single attribute could result in the entire fixture releasing to the last used cue values.11. Show DMX Address for Fixtures workspace is not saved:The setting to hide or show the DMX address on fixture handles in the fixtures workspace was not saved in the show and would be lost after restart.12. Tiger Touch consoles with U-DMX cards stop sending DMX:Any Tiger Touch consoles with U-DMX cards fitted may stop sending DMX after around 6 hours of operation. This effects the original Tiger Touch and Tiger Touch Pro consoles. The Tiger Touch II consoles are unaffected.13. DBO not releasing:If the Grand Master is enabled, the DBO button blacks out the stage. But when releasing the button, the stage stays black, until the fader is brought down to zero and brought up again. 14. Crossfade cue list with times does not work with Go button:If there are cue fade times on a cue list set to Manual Crossfader the Go button will only work once and then not work again. You can still progress the cue list by moving the fader up and down but the Go button will no longer have any effect. Cue lists without times do not exhibit this issue.15. Unable to connect V8.0 Pearl Experts to other V8.0 consoles:W e have relaxed what versions can be connected together in multi-user to avoid this scenario ocurring again. Please note that you are not able to connect consoles running V8.0 to V8.1.16. Auto Legends for Position Palettes show as Black Colour:A black colour swatch was incorrectly used to legend position palettes.17. Unable to set times on CueList Cue:Moving a cue between two cue lists results in you not being able to edit times on the moved cue.18. Pearl Expert Wing Wheels reset to Console Wheels:W hen choosing the Pearl Expert wheels to be on the wing, this setting would be lost after restarting the console.19. Grand Master fader disabled on restart:After restarting the console the Grand Master enabled setting would reset to disabled.20. In Unfold, merge requires double press:In unfold cue list a playback swop must be pressed twice before the replace/merge menuappears.21. Palettes from V7 Stuck:Some Version 7 Palettes cause fixtures to be stuck in the programmer in version 8.22. Preset Palettes break Chase Cue Timings:Using preset palettes in chase cues would cause the cue to have zero times. This would result in the chase running quickly and no ability to change the speed.23. Slow to Load or Startup:W hen loading some shows with filter relevant palettes enabled the console hangs for anextended period on loading show.24. Triggers not loading from V7 Shows:Triggers not loading into V8 from V7 show files.Known Issues1. Trigger mappings across different consoles:Trigger mappings are stored on a per console basis. This can cause confusion when moving shows between consoles as only last version saved on that console will be shown.。

Version Cue and enhanced productivityFirst, we look at Version Cue’s key productivity features and benefi ts, as well as typicalVersion Cue workfl ows.Overview of key featuresVersion Cue offers everyday help to creative professionals who want to reduce the time andeffort that they spend designing print and Web communications. It helps them manage and organize fi les by offering historical versioning built into Adobe Photoshop® CS, Illustrator® CS, InDesign® CS, and GoLive® CS. This way, designers don’t have to leave their Adobe applications and yet the most up-to-date fi les are at their fi ngertips, along with easy access to the previous versions of their work. Files can be previewed before they are opened and, because Version Cue preserves metadata that describes the content of fi les and the relationships between fi les, design-ers can search for fi les in a project on such specifi c information as author, keyword, and version comments. In addition, Version Cue makes it easier for designers in groups to share fi les without slow-ing down other team members or introducing confl icts. It operates as a trusted fi le-sharing environment. It saves all fi les in a single Workspace and makes them available to everyone in a workgroup or team. Permissions can be set to provide restrictions if needed. If someone opens a fi le that’s already in use, Version Cue guides him or her to minimize editing confl icts and to preserve all versions of the fi le. Version Cue goes beyond similar features in the components of Adobe Creative Suite by not only recognizing links between fi les but also automatically keeping those links up to date. Finally, the Version Cue environment can be installed quickly and is a natural extension to all designers’ everyday authoring tools. Version Cue does not require additional scripts, customized databases, or fi le servers that are found in high-end fi le-management solutions, which typically are expensive to confi gure and diffi cult to use. Version Cue projects can be managed from a lo-cal or remote computer in a low-impact user-based implementation that improves collaboration right out of the box. It can also be implemented in a server-based scenario. InCopy CS workfl ows will not be covered in this white paper.2Understanding Version CueTraditional fi le-management systemsTraditional solutions for managing fi les and versions come in myriad fl avors but all have asimilar limitation: They’re good for structured environments but tend to be hard to learn ortake too much effort to use, so designers get frustrated and either make inadvertent mistakes orgive up.The operating system The fi rst option is no fi le management: Designers simply browse an oper-ating system or directory to fi nd the fi le they need. This is the least productive way for designersto fi nd what they’re looking for, because they have a minimal amount of fi le information andthus have to open the fi le to fi gure out what it is.File-naming conventions A second option is to devise a fi le-naming convention that can (hope-fully) be understood and used by everyone in a workgroup. But fi le-naming conventions arecumbersome: They are often intuitive only to the person who created the system, and theyrequire more discipline than many designers have time to sustain. If the fi le-naming conventionis not rigorously followed, multiple versions can easily circulate among a team, with no mecha-nism to ensure that the most current version is always used and not accidentally overwritten.Third-party tools Alternatively, designers can use a third-party tool that catalogs fi les, providespreviews, and perhaps offers search capabilities. However, these products generally requirescripting to tie in to designers’ everyday applications. Or creative teams can use mainstreamdatabases to catalog their fi les. Unfortunately, however, these databases typically entail arelatively complex level of programming to tie in to a creative or publishing workfl ow, can bediffi cult to scale depending on the implementation, and often require regular system adminis-tration. As a result, third-party tools and ad hoc scripted solutions can be a hassle and are tooexpensive for many design teams to implement and maintain. And because these solutions de-pend on designers to manually check fi les in and out of the system, they’re not used consistentlyand sometimes end up causing as many workfl ow problems as they solve.Custom solutions Finally, creative workgroups can opt to set up an FTP or other fi le server, orimplement a customized high-end digital asset management solution. But these solutions arenot only expensive, they also need constant maintenance as well as fi rewalls and other techno-logical support that make them prohibitive for most creative professionals to use.Why Version Cue is a simpler alternativeVersion Cue, in contrast, fi ts naturally into Adobe creative professional workfl ows, providinggreater fl exibility and ease of use so that designers can continue to work as they always have andyet also enjoy the benefi ts of fi le version management—without extra expense or interruptingroutine production tasks. This is because Version Cue manages the process as well as the assets.Version Cue saves fi les to a Workspace that can be accessed from within Photoshop CS,Illustrator CS, InDesign CS, and GoLive CS. Users of InCopy CS, a separate product not includ-ed in Adobe Creative Suite, can also access a Version Cue Workspace—which is only availableas part of Adobe Creative Suite—if there is at least one copy of Adobe Creative Suite. (InCopyCS workfl ows will not be covered in this white paper.) When designers need to access a fi le thathas been saved to the Version Cue Workspace, they choose File > Open and click on the VersionCue button. A Browse window appears, displaying (by user choice) either a text list or thumb-nail previews of all available project fi les. Thumbnails are accompanied by tooltips that containa summary of signifi cant fi le information, such as the name of the last person to work on the fi leand comments describing what the person did in the most recent iteration. Designers can alsoUnderstanding Version Cue3ComputerSuiteIndividualsSmall workgroups Suite Suite Suite Computer ComputerComputerSuitePoint ProductsServerComputerComputerComputerSmall workgroupsUnderlying technology and implementationThis section takes a more detailed look at Version Cue’s technological underpinnings and thenuts and bolts of implementing Version Cue in a production workfl ow.Version Cue architectureWorkspaces and projects When using Version Cue to manage, organize, and share fi les and fi leinformation, designers or workgroups must access a Workspace. This Workspace, whose locationis defi ned during the installation process, stores all fi le versions and all fi les’ XMP metadata. Italso preserves and updates the relationships (links) between fi les. It can reside on an individu-al’s hard drive or on a dedicated server.Designers access the Workspace from a common user interface in the Open, Save, and Save Asdialog boxes in the CS versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. In these dialog boxes, designers can click on the Version Cue button, which displays a new dialog box where theycan create and connect to Workspaces and projects, view project fi les, and access workgroupcommands. GoLive CS, meanwhile, gives designers access to the Workspace through its SiteManager; indeed, GoLive’s Site Manager acts as a Version Cue project manager. This is becausethe Site Manager is GoLive’s native fi le-management solution for managing links between fi les.GoLive’s Site window is optimized for handling the many types of assets required to construct aWeb site. By working through the Site Manager, Version Cue enhances GoLive workfl ows.A project is a folder in the Version Cue Workspace that contains related fi les grouped as de-sired within other folders. Sharing is enabled for entire projects rather than for individual fi les.Projects can contain any fi le. However, Version Cue’s fi le management and version managementwill be most robust with the fi les created by the CS versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and GoLive. Projects may be kept private, even on shared Workspaces, or shared as desired withor without assigning user access privileges. Designers may defi ne one or more projects as suitstheir needs. For example, they could create one project for fi les that don’t need to be shared, another for fi les that need to be shared by everyone in the group, and a third for fi les that are tobe shared only with colleagues who have appropriate privileges. All shared projects are open andaccessible to others as long the computer hosting the Workspace can be seen on a network. Userswho are behind a fi rewall or connecting via a Virtual Private Network will also have access tofi les in shared projects. When a designer creates a new project, three folders are automatically generated in the project’sfolder on the Version Cue Workspace: Documents, Web-Content, and Web-Data. Project fi lessaved from Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, or InDesign CS reside in the Documents folder, whilefi les saved from GoLive live in the Web-Content and Web-Data folders.Working copies When a fi le from a Version Cue project is opened, a working copy is created. Asdesigners edit, they can preserve intermediate changes by choosing File > Save, which updatesthe working copy. When designers decide that the fi le has reached a new version milestone, theyuse the updated working copy to create a new version in the Version Cue Workspace by choosingFile > Save a Version. By using working copies to edit fi les, Version Cue helps protect the masterproject versions from inadvertent, unwanted changes.Regardless where the Version Cue Workspace is located, working copies are kept on the design-er’s own hard drive. Working copies of project fi les are located in a folder for each project thatis in a Version Cue folder, which is automatically created inside the designer’s My Documentsfolder (just Documents in Mac OS X).Understanding Version Cue8By default, Version Cue’s Workspace settings are optimized for an individual designer who isworking with mixed-media projects and with 128 MB of RAM available to the Workspace. (Thatmeans 128 MB of RAM above and beyond the 192 MB of RAM required to run any other singlecomponent of Adobe Creative Suite; this is the minimum system requirement to run VersionCue.) A designer or systems administrator may increase the amount of memory dedicated to theVersion Cue Workspace and optimize it for the anticipated number of people who will be access-ing the Workspace. These changes are made in the Settings tab of Version Cue System Preferences.Workspaces and projects may be unlimited in size, but there is a 2-GB limit to a single fi le in aVersion Cue project.Creating projects Once Version Cue is installed and activated both in the OS and in the compo-nents of Adobe Creative Suite, designers may create a new Version Cue project. There are severalways to do this. One is by choosing File > Open in the CS versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, orInDesign (or File > Place in Illustrator or InDesign), and then clicking on the Version Cue but-ton. Next, the designer selects the Workspace where the project will be hosted. For an individualthis will be his or her own hard drive. In a workgroup, a project may be created on any visibleWorkspace that has been shared by others (in a user-based implementation) or on a server (in aserver-based implementation). Projects can also be created through the GoLive CS site wizardor in Adobe Version Cue Workspace Administration. Then the designer chooses New Project from the Project Tools menu, names the project, andadds a description. To make the project available to others in a user-based implementation, thedesigner must select Share This Project With Others. As noted earlier, projects can be unsharedat any time. If a server hosts the Workspace, the project is shared by default.Testing the systemAs with the introduction of any new technology in a working production environment, it iswise to test Version Cue in a limited capacity before rolling it out to an entire workgroup. Thisminimizes potentially costly and time-consuming glitches and helps ensure that team memberswork as smoothly as possible with Version Cue as they integrate it into their daily routines. To set up a test environment for Version Cue, install it fi rst on a computer that is either not onthe network or is not used for daily production or fi le sharing. Set up the Workspace initially asprivate (Choose This Workspace is Private in Version Cue System Preferences). Allow one indi-vidual—either the systems administrator or an experienced designer or production professionalon the team—to set up and experiment with a project. This individual can either create a newblank project for testing purposes or import existing fi les into a new project. Several optionsare possible depending on the situation. A new blank project can be created and then new fi lescan be added through File > Save As in Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, or InDesign CS, as well asby creating fi les directly in a GoLive CS site that is a part of the project. Existing fi les may alsobe easily added to a project by placing folders of fi les in the working copies’ Version Cue folderfound in My Documents (Documents on Mac OS X) and then synchronizing, or by using theAdd Files command in GoLive CS. Lastly, a project can be created using Workspace Administra-tion. Workspace Administration offers options to import fi les from a folder, from an FTP site,or from a WebDAV server. (See “Advanced administration features,” page 12, to learn how toaccess Workspace Administration, and refer to Version Cue Help for more information aboutimporting and synchronizing fi les and projects.)After experimenting with creating projects, adding fi les, saving versions to Version Cue, andlearning how to browse and search for fi les, the tester can access the Version Cue Workspacefrom a second computer that has a CS version of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or GoLive.Understanding Version Cue1112Understanding Version Cue Then two people can begin to share project and fi les, familiarize themselves with in-use alerts, and understand how to synchronize working copies of fi les that are accessed by multiple users simultaneously. After one or two people are up to speed in using Version Cue, the technology can be phased in to other members of the workgroup and installed on working production systems. As worksta-tions are phased in during the testing period, some fi les on those computers may be managed by Version Cue and some may not. If desired, the Version Cue Workspace may be turned off and on without affecting the non-managed production work on those workstations.Advanced administration featuresAlthough designers can create and share projects, add comments to fi les, and create fi le ver-sions from their Adobe Creative Suite applications from the moment they install Version Cue, a wealth of advanced administrative controls are also available to power users and systems administrators.Trusted vs. non-trusted environments By default, Version Cue is set up to operate in trusted working environments, which provides the greatest out-of-the-box fl exibility to designers be-cause shared fi les can be accessed without the need to enter a password. However, there may be designers on a workgroup’s network who do not need access to Version Cue projects or who per-haps must be deliberately prevented from accessing fi les. In magazine publishing, for example, editorial and advertising fi les may reside on the same network but should be accessible only to their respective departments. For these and other non-trusted environments, systems adminis-trators can establish user log-ins and privileges by using Workspace Administration.Version Cue WorkspaceAdministration home pageDesigners and systems administra-tors can manage IDs and privileges, and perform such maintenance asproject backups and exports, byusing Workspace Administration.Accessing Workspace Administration Workspace Administration is available from Version Cue System Preferences. Make sure Version Cue is turned on, navigate to the Settings tab, and click on Advanced Administration. Workspace Administration can also be accessed from Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, and InDesign CS by choosing File > Open, clicking on the Version Cue but-ton, and selecting a Workspace to administer. Then choose Tools > Edit Properties and click on Advanced Administration. Workspace Administration can also be accessed from the Site menu in GoLive CS; a site (Version Cue project) must be open for this menu to be available. When a designer installs a Version Cue Workspace, Version Cue automatically creates a systemuser login ID with administrator privileges.Remember, passwords are not required and user accounts do not have to be explicitly created toshare Version Cue Workspaces and projects. Designers simply need to be on the same subnet-work or have the Version Cue Workspace IP or DNS address and port number to access a sharedWorkspace across a WAN. To restrict Version Cue projects, however, a systems administratorcan edit a project’s existing user IDs or create new user IDs and assign them to specifi c projects. In addition to establishing user IDs, Workspace Administration can be used to manage proj-ects and to apply more stringent controls over fi le versioning. Lock protection for fi les can beenabled, restricting fi le versioning to sequential fi le versions. Once a designer begins editingan available fi le in a Version Cue project that is lock-protected, only that designer can save thenext version of that fi le to the Version Cue project. Another designer who chooses to edit thatfi le simultaneously won’t be able to save changes to a new version of that fi le, even after the fi rstdesigner has saved a version. The second designer will have to save changes to a new fi le or toa new location on the Workspace, or wait to open the newest version of the original fi le whenit becomes available to edit. Lock protection for fi les that are currently in use can be removedusing the Advanced page of Workspace Administration. Locks can be deleted for a project, for aparticular user, or for the entire Workspace.Maintenance, archiving, and backupIn addition to managing users, privileges, and projects, Workspace Administration can be usedto perform maintenance and to backup and archive projects.Maintenance tasks include editing Workspace preferences: making projects or an entire Work-space private or shared, renaming Workspaces, defi ning log options, and setting default FTPand HTTP proxy servers. In addition, systems administrators can delete old fi le versions fromprojects, duplicate or delete entire projects, and export and back up projects.Exporting projects Exporting a Version Cue project creates a copy of that project in a differentVersion Cue Workspace. Exported copies can serve as archives of a project outside of the VersionCue Workspace, or can be delivered as proofs or fi nal fi les to clients. Exporting preserves onlythe current version of each fi le. In other words, exported projects do not include the entire his-tory of each fi le’s versions. Therefore, projects should not be exported as a way to preserve thehistorical versions of all fi les within a project; projects should be exported only when the fi nalversions of fi les are necessary, such as for an archive. Version Cue projects can be exported to adifferent computer via FTP or WebDAV, but Version Cue does not offer connectivity to dedi-cated third-party archiving systems.Backing up projects Version Cue projects can also be backed up, which creates copies of projectsthat preserve all versions as well as such information as fi le comments. Backups are stored onthe same Version Cue Workspace as the original project, in the Backups folder. When a designerbacks up a project, he or she selects what to include, such as project metadata and fi le informa-tion entered when versions are saved from Adobe CS applications. It is a good idea to regularly back up Version Cue projects to avoid potential loss of data due tounanticipated system events. Backups may be given unique fi lenames, such as projectname_date,so that in the event of data loss or corruption, projects can be restored to their state at a givenpoint in time. Note that backing up may take a lot of disk space, because it creates a completeduplicate of all versions of all fi les.Understanding Version Cue13A designer or systems administrator can also back up (and restore) entire Version Cue Work-spaces by using the Advanced page of Workspace Administration. Restoring a backup copy of aVersion Cue Workspace replaces all current data on the Workspace, including Version Cue proj-ects, fi les, and versions. Backup Version Cue Workspaces can be restored only if they were cre-ated with the same version of the Version Cue feature that the designer or administrator used. How Version Cue handles data corruptionVersion Cue handles data corruption in one of three ways, depending on the severity of theproblem. First, Version Cue monitors its database and fi le repository automatically during eachVersion Cue Workspace start-up. If this check detects a problem with fi le data, Version Cueexecutes a self-repair routine. This occurs automatically and transparently to the designer. Asa result, some problems are diagnosed and repaired without the designer ever knowing, andwithout disruption to creative workfl ows.If the database is corrupt and Version Cue cannot self-repair, then the designer receives an alertthat indicates the presence of the problem. The designer is then given the option of running amore robust repair utility that is present in the Workspace environment. If neither the self-repair nor the repair control panel can resolve the data corruption, the design-er or systems administrator must manually export all affected Version Cue projects—preserv-ing only current fi le versions—to a new Workspace. Problems that require the manual export ofVersion Cue projects are an extremely rare occurrence.Scaling Version CueVersion Cue is a scalable technology. It is a straightforward process to migrate from an indi-vidual confi guration to sharing fi les in a networked user-based implementation. Designers canmake their Workspaces publicly available at any time by using Version Cue System Preferences, and can share (or unshare) projects by using Workspace Administration. Other designers on thenetwork must then activate Version Cue in their applications. (See “Setting up and installingVersion Cue,” page 9, for more information.) That’s all there is to it.If a workgroup decides to change from a user-based to a server-based implementation, projectsshould be migrated through backup and restore procedures to preserve complete historical ver-sions of project fi les. Move the fi les from the user-based Version Cue Backups folder to the cor-responding folder in the server-based implementation. This may be accomplished for selectedprojects or an entire user-based Workspace. (Do not manually change the folder structure of theprojects being migrated.) Workspace Administration, which is server based, can then be used toimport the projects that have been transferred into their new Version Cue environment. When scaling Version Cue from a single-user to a shared group environment, it is a good idea totest Version Cue before using it in real-world production. Advancing slowly gives everyone timeto get used to the new technology while maintaining their productivity and preventing untimelymistakes. One strategy might be to add designers and projects only as Version Cue proves itselfamong current users.Practical limitationsDesigners and systems administrators may wonder what limitations to consider when usingVersion Cue. Unfortunately, too many variables are involved to give specifi c guidance. Adoberecommends that designers test Version Cue to get a qualitative understanding of how suchvariables as fi le size, number of links, and the number of users simultaneously editing fi les intheir environment affect Version Cue. It is also sensible to take a conservative approach to roll-ing out Version Cue in large workgroups or workgroups that have highly complex content fi les.Understanding Version Cue14Remote connectivityHaving the fl exibility and scalability to be used by individual designers, in user-based imple-mentations, and on networked servers is all well and good, but today’s production environmentsare often quite complex. Many designers work remotely—either temporarily or permanently. They may be located in a different branch of the company, such as an international sales offi ce,that’s on a separate network. They may go to a client’s offi ce for a meeting, work at home for aday, or occasionally use their laptops in the lobby of a convention center or on an airplane. In allof those cases, their work on a Version Cue project does not have to come to a halt. Members ofa workgroup can connect remotely to a Version Cue Workspace, access fi les, edit them, and saveversions without slowing down team members. To connect to a Version Cue project hosted by a Version Cue Workspace that’s not on the design-er’s own subnetwork, the designer uses the Version Cue Client URL or, if he or she is using anapplication that supports WebDAV, the Version Cue WebDAV Client URL. From the CS versionof Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign, the designer opens a Version Cue project by choosing File> Open and clicking on the Version Cue button. In the dialog box that appears, the designerchooses Connect To from the Project Tools menu. (In GoLive CS, the designer chooses File >New Site > Version Cue Project > Connect to Version Cue > Custom Server.)Using Workspace Administration, designers in trusted environments or who have appropriateprivileges in non-trusted environments can also create and share Version Cue projects remotelyand perform administrative tasks.Use of standardsVersion Cue is built on several open industry standards that enhance its core functionality.Among these standards are XMP and WebDAV—two acronyms that have been used liberallythroughout this white paper. What do they mean?XMP XMP, which once again stands Extensible Metadata Platform, is based on W3C standardsand is available via open source license. It is an enabling technology that adds intelligence tofi les so that they’re easier to fi nd, reuse, archive, and exchange. Supported by all of Adobe’s na-tive fi le formats, including Adobe PDF, XMP lets designers capture, preserve, and share mean-ingful XML-based metadata across fi les and workfl ows, opening the door for more effi cient jobprocessing, workfl ow automation, and effi cient rights management, among other possibilities.Version Cue automatically embeds XMP metadata such as author, date, title, description, andkeywords when designers save versions of fi les. Designers may also add XMP fi le informationin the File Info dialog boxes of Adobe CS applications. Comments that are added manually bydesigners when they save versions are also managed by Version Cue as metadata. Thus, design-ers can quickly locate a fi le in a Version Cue project by searching XMP-based version comments, keywords, copyright information, authors, titles, and more.WebDAV Another standard that Version Cue uses is WebDAV, or Web Distributed Authoringand Versioning. WebDAV, which is administered by the Internet Engineering Task Force, is aprotocol that facilitates collaborative content creation in a platform- and technology-indepen-dent environment, and makes it easier to reuse content and share knowledge collaborativelyover the Web. Adobe supports WebDAV in a number of its applications. Version Cue uses Web-DAV to enable applications other than the CS versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesignto communicate with the Version Cue Workspace. Version Cue also acts as a WebDAV client toenable the importing and exporting of content to and from a WebDAV server. Version Cue alsointeracts with GoLive CS by using WebDAV in myriad ways, as we will see in the next section.Understanding Version Cue15。
