Although he/she adheres to the word limit and recommends how to spend the profits and outlines the benefits, as required, there is no clear organisation of ideas in paragraphs. This makes the writer‟s ideas difficult to follow. In addition, typical elements of report writing are lacking, such as headings, bullets and standard report writing phrases.Main pointsSupporting ideasComputers are not necessary.Employees already have new computers. The existing computers are fast enough for employees‟ routine work.Language training is a good idea.It would help the company increase export sales to Spain and France.Staff would enjoy the lessons and feel the company is investing in them.It would be good for motivation.Special bonus payments are not recommended. They would be good for motivation but do not invest in the company.Staff would expect more bonuses in the future. There is the question of who you give the bonuses to .Altered VersionIntroductionThis report sets out to examine how the company should re-invest this year‟s profits. The areas under consideration are the purchases of new computers, the provision of language training courses and the payment of special bonuses.Areas under consideration* New computersThe majority of company computers are quite new and fast enough to handle the work done on them. Consequently, new computers would not be recommended.* Language training coursesThe company aims to increase exports, particularly in Spain and France. Therefore, language training courses would be an excellent idea for those employees who deal with business partners and customers overseas. In addition, training courses would increase motivation: staff would enjoy the lessons and perceive that the company is investing in them. Therefore, language training would be an option.* Special bonus paymentsAlthough special bonus payments would have a beneficial impact on motivation, they would have no direct effect on the company‟s operations. There are also potential problems concerning the selection of staff eligible for the payments and the setting of a precedent for future payments. Therefore, bonus payments would not be advisable.RecommendationsIt is felt that the best solution for both the company and staff would be to invest in language training. It is suggested that the company should organise courses in French and Spanish. Those employees who have contact with partners and customers should be assured of places but other interested members of staff should also be allowed to attend.Processes necessary for Writing Part TwoThere are some key strategies and points which need to be considered.* Make sure you read and understand the rubric of the question. It will tell you exactly what to do. * Make sure you use language that is appropriate to the report that you are asked to write. If certain technical terms and jargon seem suitable and you know these, then use them. However, do not use vocabulary that might confuse your reader or not be understood by him or her. If in doubt, or if you do not know any special vocabulary, use simple plain English and short sentences. Help your reader to read without effort or constant resort to a dictionary. NEVER use abbreviations. Some people cannot understand abbreviations or dislike their use. No-one ever objects to words being written in full.* Make sure you use a format that is appropriate for a report. The same pattern can be used for any reports asked for in BEC 3.There are some important points which you should pay particular attention to.* First, always give a heading which covers everything that follows.* Second, write an opening paragraph explaining what the report is about and what will follow.* Third, cover all the points asked for in the rubric, in the same order as they occur in the rubric. Write a separate paragraph for each point.* Fourth, if it seems appropriate, write a concluding, summing-up or rounding-off paragraph. Often, this is not needed in a report.Practice 1* Your company has planned three training courses:Foreign Language Development:Changes in Technology:Management Skills.* You have been asked to write a proposal, recommending the course you think would be most useful for people who do the same kind of job as you.* Write the proposal, saying which course you have chosen. Explain why you feel it would be the most useful and why the others are not so suitable.* Write 200-250 words on your Answer Sheet.Date: 30 January 2003Report on: Company Training Course Most Suitable for Foreign Language TranslatorsIntroductionThis report aims to assess three training courses and recommend one of them as being the most useful for all foreign language translators.FindingsThe three courses from which a choice may be made are:(i)English Language Development; (ii) Changes in Technology; (iii) Management Skills. All translators in the Company have university degrees in English Language and many colleagues in our field have postgraduate qualifications in Linguistics or Translation. As the Company‟s English Language Course is only to Diploma level and contains nothing that will be new to us, it is not suitable for us and is best left to other colleagues. All Company translators completed an excellent “Changes in Technology” courses two months ago, which brought us up to date on use of personal computers and machine-translating. Clearly, we do not need to attend the “Changes in Technology” course again. The “Management Skills” course is definitely the one for the Company‟s translators. It has recently been announced that our department will be divided, next year, into six sections, each of which will serve a specific Division of a much-expanded Company. Thirty new English Language graduates will be recruited as new translators, five to each section. We six existing translators will be promoted as Heads of Section.RecommendationsAll six of us lack management skills and, when we have our own sections, such skills will be absolutely necessary. Therefore, I have no hesitation in recommending that all translators are enrolled for the “Management Skills” training course.Fan Yi Ling Translating CoordinatorApproximately 250 words excluding titleHomework1* Owing to increased business in your department you believe that you need to recruit an additional receptionist and have been asked to write a report explaining why this new post is necessary.* Write the report explaining why another receptionist is needed and what duties the person appointed will be expected to perform, refer to the present receptionist‟s duties and the qualities the new receptionist should have.* Write 200-250 words on your Answer Sheet.。

Fifth, the charges of Globelink is lower than that of FTD.Conclusion: Globelink has more benefits than FTD does. It is more suitable for our exports to a number of countries around the world.Recommendations: In order to lower the cost and ensure the orders in compliance with different demands, I would recommend that we choose Globelink for international freight.。

2023年高级商务英语考试(BEC)写作范文(一)Report writing Ex 4: Sample answer: (235words)Reassessment of job satisfaction: Sue Pearson(PR Dept.)IntroductionThis report sets out to use Workset colours to assess the accuracy of my job description as PR officer and to suggest a number of changes.FindingsIt is clear that there is a difference between the way the company views the job and the reality as I perceive it. Firstly, a number of areas which demand a significant proportion of my time are not mentioned in the official job brief. The segment on the pie chart which provides most cause for concern is the pink sector; this relates to my attendance at a number of meetings which I can contribute little. Another significant area is the grey segment; this refers to the unscheduled time I spend sorting out computer problems. I feel these activities are hampering my core work. As can be seen from the pie charts, the time I spend actively working to meet the goals agreed with my line manager is less than envisaged.ConclusionsThe above discrepancies clearly indicate that my current job brief is inaccurate.RecommendationsI would recommend that my official job brief should be updated using the Workset colours. It would also be valuable to consider the proportion of non-core colours in the pie chart and to investigate whether work in these areas could be carried out by someone else more suited to these tasks.2023年高级商务英语考试(BEC)写作范文(二)Flexible working Ex 5:Sample answer: (250words)Resource Planning Manager: Assessment of Suitability forHome-based WorkingIntroductionThe purpose of this report is to assess the suitability of my position as Resource Planning Manager for home-based working.FindingsMy working pattern and that of my colleagues varies from week toweek. During certain periods a large proportion of my time is spent doing fieldwork. This is followed by office-based collating and recording the data collected. Once the results have been recorded, I proof-read the colour copies of all reports and maps.As regards communication with colleagues, department meetings are held once a fortnight. At other times, the individual members of the team communicate either face-to-face or by phone, depending on their location. Apart from official meetings, the same results can be achieved whether I am in the office or working elsewhere.ConclusionIt is clearly that I could be able to undertake the duties while working from home for a large proportion of my time. Clearly, some days would be spent in the office for face-to-face communication with colleagues. It would also be necessary to use the technical facilities at times. However, in order to be able to work effectively from home, I would need to be provided with a networked computer and printer.RecommendationsI would suggest that I should be given the necessary equipment to work partially from home for a trial period. After this time, further consultation should take place in order to reassess the situation.2023年高级商务英语考试(BEC)写作范文(三)Business practices in China Ex 3: Sample answer: (244words)Dear Chen,I was very pleased to receive your letter. As requested, I enclose some advice about visiting Milan. There are lots of good hotels near the Fiera and I recommend the Hotel Wagner; it is about a ten-minute walk from the trade fair and also has the metro and train connections. The public transport system here is quite reliable and I do not think you need to hire a car; the traffic in Milan can be a bit chaotic.Finding somewhere to eat in the evening should be easy. There are plenty of restaurants and pizzerias near the hotel. My favourite is Nove Cento, which serves excellent seafood pasta. It is difficult to know what to recommend for sightseeing as the city has so much to offer. If you are interested in art, then the world famous ‘Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci is a short train ride from the hotel or you could visit the Brera art gallery. There is also the Duomo, Milans huge gothic cathedral. If you are interested in football, there should be midweek match featuring either AC or Inter Milan. Alternatively, you could visit the fashion area around via Montenapoleone.Thank you for inviting me for a meal one evening during you stay. I would be very happy to accept.I look forward to hearing from you nearer the time. We can then make the arrangements for where and when we are going to meet.Best regardsMaurizio2023年高级商务英语考试(BEC)写作范文(四)Suggested answer: (127words)The last years of twentieth century saw the Internet being used by more and more companies as a business tool. The key findings are outlined below:Staff feel undervalued by the company, both on a financial and a personal level. It is generally felt that the companyˇs competitors offer higher levels of remuneration. The perception that the managers are unappreciative of staff efforts is particularly noticeable in the Sales Department.Certain employees feel under-challenged. The company is clearly not exploiting its human resources. There appears to be a breakdown of communication in the Production Department. The confusion and resultant ill-feeling towards managers has the potential to disrupt the production cycles.RecommendationsWe strongly recommend the following measures:An evaluation of job profiles throughout the company to assess whether skills could be utilised more efficientlyA review of the current salary structure involving the comparison with similar organisationsIt is also essential to investigate and take action regarding the communication in the Production and Sales Department.2023年高级商务英语考试(BEC)写作范文精选5篇文档内容到此结束,欢迎大家下载、修改、丰富并分享给更多有需要的人。
2、题⽬通常要求use all your handwritten notes,那么⼀条都不能漏下。
Report on the most effective advertismentIntroductionThis report aims to assess methods of advertising on how customers learnt about Norlec and find a most effective way for future promotion.FindingsRadio is the key way which make our company to the public. It covers 40% of the whole given in the survey. It is followed by magazine(24%),billboard(17%),website(10%) and direct mail(9%).The figure on website is expected to increase due to the popularity of computers. There are not many people read our brochures, therefore direct mail fails to achieve its goals. We also did a survey on annual advertising costs.$120,000(the highest) has put on radio each year.It is of good value for the reason that radio is still our best channel for progandizing. We are surprised that we invest $105,000(the second) on billboard which only covers 17%.Since price will increase soon,it is recommened stopping to lower the costs.Magazines($45,000) and website($25,000) costs less, but achieve more on progandizing.ConclusionsMaganzine is a relative effective way of advertising.Billboard costs a lot and will fall to increase promotions. RecommendationsMaganzine is recommened for its effective and less-costs.We should try more maganzines to make its fuction maxmize.。
例三(课堂带写——报告):Your company or organization is becoming more successful. In order for this success to continue, you want to expand and increase the budget of your department. The Directors have asked you to write a report saying why your department needs extra money.Write a report of 200-250 words, explaining why your department needs more money, and include the following points:✓Whether extra staff are needed (and if so, why?)✓Whether changes to the office space and equipment should be made✓What plans you have for future development✓How the investment would generate extra business.Write on your answer sheet.Report on maintaining business success of the Sales DepartmentIntroductionThis report aims to clarify/explain the reason for budget expansion in Sales Department.FindingsIn order to make the current business success continue, we would like to request extra budget for the following reasons.Firstly, two more staffs are needed as our daily routine work has increased due to the growing sales targets. They are supposed to process import-export orders and arrange warehouse for the incoming as well as outgoing cargos.Secondly, the office space is much too limited for our everyday work. At least 6 sets of desk chair are needed in the office. However, there is no where to put them. The laser printer is also broken, which makes numerous orders lag behind.Furthermore, aside from the above points, we have made a decision to purchase professional software, which will maximally simplify the routine work and free the staff from trivial details and repeat work. In that case, their efficiency would be dramatically enhanced, and they could concentrate more on exploring potential customers. Finally, if we have achieved the above stated aspects, our sales could be expected to increase by 20% and also our staff would work in a more comfortable environment, which would largely enhance their loyalty to the company.ConclusionThe extra budget would increase both sales revenue and staff loyalty to the company.例四(课堂10分钟快速拓展练习):Your company is considering appointing someone as your assistant. Your boss has asked you to write a short report on whether an assistant would be useful for you.Write a report of 200-250 words for your manager, describing:✓The advantages to you of having an assistant✓What difficulties might arise if an assistant is appointed✓What qualifications and experience would be desirable in an assistant✓What personal qualities would be desirable in an assistantWrite on your answer sheetYour company has planned three training courses:✓Foreign Language Development✓Changes in Technology✓Management SkillsYou have been asked to write a report, recommending the course you think would be most useful for people who do the same kind of job as you.Write a report of 200-250 words, saying which course you have chosen. Explain why you feel it would be the most useful and why the others are not suitable.●Report on the choice of training coursesIntroductionThis report aims to present and compare the advantages and disadvantages of selection an appropriate course from Foreign Language Development, Changes in Technology and Management Skills for secretarial staffs.FindingsIt is apparent that the routine work for secretarial staffs often involves communication with foreign customers, such as taking overseas telephone calls, showing foreign guests around the company, and writing letters to the customers or suppliers. However, most of them are rather weak in the aspect. Foreign Language Development course could provide a chance to learn English systematically and also opportunities to practice with the teachers who are native speakers of English. In addition, the class activities in the course are job-oriented, which could guarantee the practical application at work. The other two courses are not directly related to the jobs as secretaries. And even if they are eager to learn something in those areas, some preparatory reading should be done which will take at least half a year’s time.ConclusionChoosing Foreign Language Development course is most suitable for its direct relationship with secretarial job.RecommendationIt is recommended that Foreign Language Development course is to choose for urgent need at work.。

Today I want to talk about Business English Communication (BEC). BEC is super important for when we grow up and start working. Let me tell you all about it!Firstly, BEC helps us learn how to talk to other people in a professional way. We learn how to greet customers, make phone calls, write emails, and give presentations. It's like practicing good manners but in a business setting. And good manners are always important, right?Secondly, BEC teaches us how to use proper English in the workplace. This means using the right words, grammar, and tone of voice. We want to sound polite and clear when we talk to our coworkers and bosses. During certain periods a large proportion of my time is spent doingfieldwork. This is followed by office-based work collating and recording the data collected. Oncethe results have been recorded, I proofread the colour copies of all reports and maps.As regards communication with colleagues, department meetings are held once a fortnight. Atall other times, the individual members of the team communicate either face-to-face or byphone, depending on their location. Apart from official meetings, the same results can beachieved whether I am in the office or working elsewhere.ConclusionIt is clear that I would be able to undertake the same duties while working from home for a largeproportion of my time. Clearly, some days would be spent in the office for face-to-facecommunication with colleagues. It would also be necessary to use the technical facilities ofthe office at times. However, inorder to be able to work effectively from home, I would needto be provided with a networked computer and printer.RecommendationsI would suggest that I should be given the necessary equipment to work partially from homefor a trial period.
