Name: Base of Computer Theory

Description: This course is a public basic course for students were not major in computer. With range knowledge scope and powerful impact, it mainly cultivates the fundamental computer application ability of students. After graduation, students can be adapt to their jobs and have sustainable re-learning ability. Most importantly, the basic teaching characters of this course are its practicability, feasibility and universality. As to instructional design, it mainly aims at the improvement of students’ employability based on a series of actual cases.

Description: The course aims to strengthen the physique and fitness, improve the student’s physical ability and the adaptability to environment, promote the all-around development both mentally and physically, enable the students to grasp the fundamental knowledge of sports and health, establish scientific sports and health value, get hold of scientific basic skills of exercises, form favorable habit of physical exercise, and lay a solid foundation for the lifelong sports.

Description: This course lasts two semesters. Basis of Arts in Industrial Design (1) Mainly lectured knowledge of sketching, including basic theory, gesso geometrical form paint, stilleben, gesso head, bust sketch, portrait sketch, half-length sketch, full-length sketch, body sketch.
Through study of this course, students can learn about basic knowledge of colors intended for design major and color change for major studies to enrich and develop the curriculum and lay a solid foundation for future study.

Name: Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis

Description: It is divided into three parts. The first one is conceptual education, including perspective of the world, value, philosophy of life and patriotic education to make college students have a clear understanding of the position of the country and themselves in the world and human society, and the responsibility they have to take. The second is moral education, including commonsense morality, civic virtues, professional ethics and family morality to help college students develop and improve in moral standards. The third is character education, including psychology education and psychological consulting to foster in students healthy characters.

Description: This is a compulsory fundamental course. Centering on English basic knowledge and practical skills, English learning methods and cross-cultural communication, this course is an integration of foreign language teaching mode and methods. Starting with freshmen’s urgent need for expanding their vocabulary, the course requires students to command all 600 new words and corresponding phrases in New Horizon College English1. While encouraging students to enlarge their vocabulary, it also emphasizes on the importance of cultivating a good reading competence. Through a year of study, students are expected to expand their vocabulary from 1,800 words to 2,700, and master the equivalent abilities in all kinds of reading such as skimming, predicting, guessing the words’ meaning, speculating, grasping the main idea, and answering questions etc.

Description: This course lasts two semesters. Students will learn basic drawing knowledge, basic rules in Technical Drawing General Terms (GB), fundamental techniques of geometric construction and freehand drawing; basic principals of orthography, projection of points, straight lines and planes and their relative positions; projection transformation; projection of primitives; intersecting lines on object surface (line of section, line of intersection); drawing and interpreting methods of an assembly; drawing methods of machine part drafts; fundamental knowledge of size marking; axonometric drawing; screw and screw fastener; common mechanical parts and standardized parts; detail drawings; technical requirements of parts; assembly drawings; and common commands and drawing examples of AutoCAD.
