English is very important because it is widely used around the world. It’s also one of the main subjects in school.
I have learned English for many years. At first I found it very hard to learn English well. So I often asked my teacher for help. He told me the best way of learning English was using it. With his help, I began to study English hard. I listened to the tape and read English every day. Sometimes I talked with my friends in English. I think they’re useful to me. Now my English has improved a lot.
I think I will be more successful if I put my heart into it.

Some of the students think that they can learn English well if they memorize the grammar rules and learn by heart long lists of words. But I don’t quite agree with them. I don’t think it enough only to learn rules from a grammar book or remember as many words as we can. We must also learn through practice, that is to say, we must learn by listening, speaking, reading and writing. We should practise speaking English both in and out of class, and reading and listening whenever possible. Besides, it is useful for us to keep diaries and write letters or short passages in English. Only in this way can we learn English well.
As a good learner, we should have good habits and ways in learning. We need to get ready for our lessons before class and always listen carefully in class. After class, we must go over lessons and finish our homework on time. It’s good to study in groups and help each other. As a student, working hard is important.
