In America, where labour costs are so high, “do-it-yourself”is a way of life. Many people repair their own cars, build their own houses. Soon they may also be writing their own books. In Hollywood there is a company that publishes children’s books with the aid of computers. Although other companies also publish that way, this particular company is very unusual. It “personalizes”the books by having the computer make the reader the leading character in the story. Here is how they do it. Let us say that your child is named Jenny. She lives on Oak Drive in St Louis, has a dog named Spot, a cat named Tabby, and three playmates whose names are Betsy, Sandy, and Jody. The computer uses information to fill out a story that has already been prepared and illustrated. The story is then printed with standard equipment as a hardcover book. A child who receives such a book might say, “This book is about me”; the company therefore calls itself the “Me-book Publishing Company”.

Children like the me-books very much because they like to see in print their own names and the names of their friends and their pets. But more importantly, “personalization”has been found to be an important tool in developing enthusiasm for reading. Me-books are thus helping a child to learn how to read, by appealing to that natural desire to see his own name in print.

26.Why do the children like the “me-books”?

A. Because the main characters are Jenny, her dog, her cat and her three playmates.

B. Because the children will see familiar names in the books.

C. Because in the U.S.A. “do it yourself”is a way of life.

D. Because the company that publishes the books is unusual.

27.The books will develop the children?s interest in reading by _______.

B. the interesting stories in them

C. the computers? well using

D. fairies

28.We can conclude from the text ________.

A. if you want to be well-known, you may turn to the company publishing the books

B. that the company will have to deal with a lot of information

C. that the other companies will use the same method

D. that Americans like “do it yourself”

29.What does the underlined word “personalize”in Paragraph1 mean?

A. realize

D. civilize

30.What is the purpose of the passage?

B. To tell us about a way of life.

D. To tell us something about Me-books.

As the pace of life continues to increase, we are fast losing the art of relaxation. Once you are in the habit of rushing through life, being on the go from morning till night, it is hard to slow down. But relaxation is essential for a healthy mind and body.

Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. In fact, it is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life. It is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health.

The amount of stress a person can withstand (经得起) depends very much on the individual. Some people are not afraid of stress, and such characters are obviously prime material for managerial responsibilities. Others lose heart at the first sight of unusual difficulties. When exposed to stress, in whatever form, we react both chemically and physically. In fact we make a choice between “fight”or “flight”and in more primitive days the choice made the difference between life or death. The crises we meet today are unlikely to be so extreme, but however little the stress, it involves the same response. It is when such a reaction lasts long, through continued exposure to stress, that health becomes endangered. Such serious conditions as high blood pressure and heart disease have established links with stress. Since we cannot remove stress from our lives (it would be unwise to do so even if we could), we need to find ways to deal with it.

31.People are finding less and less time for relaxing themselves because_____.

A. they are becoming busier with their work

B. they do not believe that relaxation is important for health

C. they are traveling fast all the time

D. they do not know how to enjoy themselves

C. high sense of responsibility

D. not fearing stress

33.Which of the following statements is true?

A. We can find some ways to avoid stress.

B. Different people can withstand different amounts of stress.

C. It is easy to change the habit of keeping oneself busy with work.

D. Stress is always harmful to people.

34.In Paragraph 3, “such a reaction”refers back to_______.

A. making a choice between …flight? or …fight?

B. responding to crises quickly

C. reaction to stress both chemically and physically

D. losing heart at the sight of difficulties

35.In the last sentence of the passage, “do so” refers to ______.

A. expose ourselves to stress

B. find ways to deal with stress

C. established links between diseases and stress

D. remove stress from our lives

XI?AN—China has introduced various emergency responses and long-term measures against air pollution in the central and eastern regions.

The air quality index (AQI) for Xi?an reached 500 on Wednesday afternoon, at the top of the AQI scale, according to the national a ir quality monitoring website. Xi?an weather forecasters predict the smog (雾霾) will continue for the next week and air pollution may worsen.

Nearly half the country, more than 100 cities in 20 provinces, has suffered from smog since last December. Many have taken action, including experimenting with artificial methods to reduce smog, limiting vehicle use and fining polluters.

Assessments based on GDP alone were abandoned last month and more emphasis has been put on public wellbeing and the environment. Whether the move will be effective in forcing local governments consider environmental issues over economic growth remains to be seen. Environmental protection professionals are doubtful about the immediacy of the effects of these measures.

Xiao Hang, an urban researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said it took London 50 years to lose the moniker (绰号) “foggy London town” and Los Angeles still struggles to control its photochemical (光化学) smog.” “We can?t ignore environmental problems during the development process and China has a long way to go.” he said.

44.What Xiao Hang said indicates ________.

第二节读写任务(共1小题,满分25分)

It’s a new record and a surprise that China won three games in the the 2015 Asian Cup, after which, the government reflected on “Where does Chinese football go from here?”and approved the country's “football reform plan’’.(37words)

I’m in favor of the China School Football Programme for the following reasons. For one thing, it provides us students with a good chance to learn how to play football, which is also beneficial to building up our body just like other kinds of sports. For another, it’s important for the development of Chinese football because it will not only make it popular with more and more people but also cultivate more excellent football players who may even become football stars.

From my point of view, there are many difficulties in carrying out the program. First of all, not every school is big enough to provide a football pitch where students enjoy it. What’s more, there’s a lack of football teachers because our PE teachers now are not good at football or don’t know how to play it. Last but not least, it needs a large sum of money.

A Many people would love to leave their jobs behind and have a life-changing adventure overseas. They imagine lying under palm trees as the sun goes down. However, life overseas is not always easy, and many are not prepared for the shock of living in an alien culture. The honeymoon period At first, for those who actually decide to move abroad, life is an exciting adventure. They enjoy exploring their new surroundings, and life seems like an extended holiday. They don’t mind trying the local cuisine and discovering the local culture. They can even afford to practice their foreign-language skills without fear of making mistakes. Trouble in paradise In many cases, when people consider moving to another country, they often fail to realize how different life will be. As time goes by, they become frustrated when language and cultural misunderstandings become a daily headache. In this stage, the visitors begin to withdraw from life in the host country and avoid spending time with local people in favor of mixing with others from their own cultural background. The road to recovery Gradually, most visitors realize they must accept the differences and not fight against them. This change encourages them to improve their language skills and slowly they manage to do the things they could easily do at home, such as opening a bank account. This new-found confidence enables them to see a side of life which very few tourists get to witness. Adjusting to life abroad can often be a real problem. The secret to overcoming it is to stop trying to change your host country: you will not succeed. If not, you risk losing your dream and having to return to the old life you wanted to leave behind. 21. Why do people moving abroad feel excited at first? A. They find foreign living much easier. B. They have the necessary language skills. C. They love the adventure and exploration. D. They enjoy meeting people from different cultures. 22. According to the author, what is the main problem many people moving abroad face? A. Homesickness. B. Culture shock C. Health problems. D. Lack of employment. 23. What would the author suggest people moving abroad do? A. Study the local language. B. Go on holidays frequently. C. Learn how to open a bank account. D. Seek out people from their home country. B Australia loves interesting money. In 1988, it was the first country to replace paper money with special plastic banknotes. Now it’s introduced a new five-dollar bill so technologically advanced that many experts are calling it the money of the future! At first glance, the new note looks much like the old one. It has the same pink colour and main pictures on the front and back. But look closer, and you will notice a clear window running down the middle, surrounded by images of the yellow Prickly Moses, a type of Australian plant. Tilt(使倾斜)the note a little and you will see the Eastern Spinebill, an Australian bird, beating its wings as if trying to fly away. Turn the bill from side to side, and you will notice the picture of a small building at the bottom of the note spins, and the image of “5” changes position. While these moveable features are impressive and entertaining, that was not the reason Australian government officials spent ten years developing them. Their primary purpose was to make it impossible for criminals to produce their own fake notes. The new five-dollar note also has something to help blind people easily identify the money. It has a raised bump alongside the top and bottom, enabling blind people to quickly determine its value. The credit for persuading the Australian government to add this all-important bump goes to 15-year-old Connor McLeod. The blind Sydney teenager came up with the idea in 2014 after being unable to tell how much money he had received for Christmas. Connor says he was so embarrassed at not being able to see the difference between notes that he only carried coins to pay for food at the school cafeteria. To
