Ladies and gentlemen, good evening. Today my topic is my hometown chongming island.
Chongming island is located in the estuary of Yangtze river,
also surrounded by it which is China's third largest island, known as the world's largest river alluvial island and the world's largest sand island.
Chongming island is known as a town of longevity in which the life expectancy of the local people is 80.26 years old, 8 years longer than the national average life expectancy. The secret of the longevity can be merely attributed to the special natural environment and simplicity of life.
Chongming island is famous for its ecosystem. It is praised as the natural oxygen bar of shanghai. Although the shanghai Yangtze river bridge and chongqi bridge were built successfully one after another, the concern of the ecological condition is completely redundant. Under the administration of scientific sustainable development strategy, the sky of chongming would
be bluer and the water would be cleaner in fact.
There are many specialties in chongming island, such as old hairy crab named by the hair on its legs(老毛蟹) which can rival yangcheng river crab. Another specialty is knife fish（刀鱼）, which is mainly living in the Yangtze river and is usually on the season during
the tomb-sweeping festival. Often before the festival it may be over 1000 yuan per kilogram. However once after the festival, the price may drop dramatically. What’s more, white goat is also very famous in chongming. Every weekend, you may see many cars parking outside the mutton restaurant. Many tourists specially come all the way to chongming just for enjoying this delicious mutton.
Next, I would like to introduce some famous tourist attractions to you guys. First scenic spot come to my mind is the Dongping national forest park, which is the largest artificial plain forest in the east china. Countless plants and wild animals dewell
happily and peacefully in the forest. Also, there are so many recreation facilities in it. Many urban residents who get tired of the hustle and bustle of the city would drive to the park at weekend. Another well-known tourist attraction is Dongtan wetland which is the only bird reserve zone in shanghai. There are about 312 kinds of bird. Imaging many lovely bird flying in the blue sky freely, you would be deeply immersed in this poetic scenery.
