课程名称：英文电影赏析
课题：重温《阿甘正传》，再现美国文化历史
授课对象：南湖校区本科生
授课周次：5周
课时：6学时
一、教学目标
通过电影，让同学们学习英语的过程更加轻松，有趣；增进同学们对英语国家文化的了解；课外拓展同学们的词汇量与语法知识。
二、教学内容、重点、难点（技术课还应写明注意要点、技术要求等）
教学内容包括：Introduction to film, Plot Description, Film Appreciation 和Film Analysis四个方面。
重点：了解影片中主要人物Gump’s mother, Jenny, Captain Dan；影片主题destiny和love;影片中涉及到的美国历史与文化，如Ping-pong diplomacy, the assassination of President Wallace, the 3-K party, the desegregation of black people等。
难点：对影片中历史文化的认知较少会影响学生对整部影片的把握；模仿影片英文对话过程中语音等的纠正；对影片的英文概括将是难点。

教学方法和手段：Explaining, classroom discussion, video appreciation and skill-practicing
教具：White board and the multimedia teaching facility

1.An Introduction to English Films (20 minutes)
What is film?
Film, or movie, is a series of moving pictures, usually shown in a cinema or on television.
The genre of film: Musicals, crime films, love films, history films, war films etc.
Movie awards: Oscar prize; golden palm, the golden globe award Famous film companies: 20th century fox; Paramount; Warner Home Video; Columbia; Universal

Plot description
A feather is flying up to the sky, over the tree…and at last, it falls on the side of Forrest sitting on a bench of Alabama, telling the story of his life to passers-
Forrest Gump grows up in Green bow, Alabama. Although his IQ Is 75, his mother strives to make him feel no different from others. Jenny is a motherless girl, whose father is an alcoholic. Forrest and Jenny attend the same school and are best friends all the way up to high school.
In his life, Forrest achieves a lot more than any of the normal people may dream of. He becomes a college student because he can run very fast and is recruited in the college football team.
After playing football for 5 years, Forrest joins the army with his college degree. In the army he meets a black young man called Bubba who does not look down upon him and they become good friends. On the battle field of Vietnam, Forrest saves the lives of many fellow soliders, but he loses his friend Bubba. Among the people saved by Forrest, there is Lieutenant Dan, who loses both his legs and insists that dying on the battlefield is his destiny.
It happens that Forrest has a talent for Ping-pong, so he is placed in the All-America Ping-pong Team to visit China together with official delegation headed by President Nixon.
