Dear daughter,
Though not knowing how you will react when receiving this letter, I do want to tell of my unfeigned thoughts. First of all, you’re my only child, the one I love most and closet to me in the world. Your birth is like the sunshine in my life. Cute and lovely, you’re an angel the god gives me. Since then, I made up my mind to train you as a distinguished person. I hope you can understand my ideas.
Firstly, grade is of vital importance. Why I force you to get a high score? The colleges admit talents based on scores. To be a civil servant, you ought to pass the exam with a good grade. The society is fiercely petitive and people are measured by the score everywhere. If intending to take up an oupation, you must get an excellent mark in the entrance exam. Otherwise,
while you have the ability, you have no chance to show it. Thus, the study is necessary for you.
Even though I emphasize the essentiality of grade, it doesn’t mean that the extracurricular life is unimportant. On the contrary, it’s significant. You do need learn something else besides schoolwork, such as the piano and the violin, to rich spiritual life. When at university, I was
self-contemptuous because I could do nothing except study. During the colorful activities, I only watched others have fun, sad and lonely. As a consequence, I do not want my dearest daughter to follow the same old disastrous road.
Maybe, you still don’t understand me, but I’ll continue what I always have been doing. My honey, thank you for the laughter you show me. Thank you for the delightful time you spend with me. Do remember that I love you forever.
Sincerely,
Dad

You've already given us a reason to reflect on the world we hope you live in. Like all parents, we want you to grow up in a world better than ours today.
While headlines often focus on what's wrong, in many ways the world is getting better. Health is improving. Poverty is shrinking. Knowledge is growing. People are connecting. Technological progress in every field means your life should be dramatically better than ours today.
We will do our part to make this happen, not only because we love you, but also because we have a moral responsibility to all children in the next generation.
We believe all lives have equal value, and that includes the many more people who will live in future generations than live today. Our society has an obligation to invest now to
