Practical Implications:
• It is not practical to charge through a metal case delivering adequate power.
These non-metallic areas can be widened and used to house a receiving coil to effect entry of magnetic flux and thus produce induced voltage and power transfer.

Why not to worry about the competing Standards:
– IDT current ICs are dual Mode: Qi/PMA – IDT’s new IC available in July is Tri-Mode: Qi/PMA/Airfuel(A4WP) – IDT’s ICs are all capable of any Qi based proprietary mode through simple firmware configuration up to 1 MHz.
• • With enlarged gaps (see below) a small amount of power can be transferred wirelessly via an MR (magnetic resonance) scheme. ~2W at ~40% efficiency can be achieved. The Industrial Design is compromised.
• EMI • NFC reliability • Rx Desense during charging • Dead Battery BLE startup • Efficiency < 60% (vs. >80%+ for MI)
