A Lecture Interpretation
——Unit 4 in PEPJunior English Students 'Book
I .Analysis of TeachingMaterials
1、Statusand function
This lessonis taken from the New Junior English for Chinesestudents Book3, publishedby the People 'E s ducation Press.The topic of this unit is how do you get to school, and we will talk about the common traffic tools andthebasicnumbersin daily life, aswell asthesentencestructure, This lessonis themiddle part ofthe book,soit plays atransitional role in this book.
2、Aims
(1) aims of knowledge: a、Let students get acknowledge about a
variety of traffic tools andthe expressionin English, for the words are the foundation of communication; b、make them use the sentence pattern“How do you get to school”/ “I
usually•…” fluently, a nd could make sentence with the new
words we just learned.
(2) Aims of ability: a、in frequent practice, let students get
acknowledge about English numbers and traffic tools; b、care
more about others 'opinions and be more polite in daily life; c、
promoterelationshipsbetweenstudentsin practice.
【Theoretical basis】
According to the National English Curriculum:
Level 6 to level 7 are designedfor the junior middle school, and all of the levels match the goals in terms of the five components:language knowledge and skills, motivation and confidence, learning strategies.
I will give special attention to the developmentof competence.
3、Important and difficult points
(1) Important point: The sentence pattern “How do you get to
schoo” / “I usually…” are totally new to them. It is like a
framework for studentsto fill into different words to expresstheir
own ideas.
(2)Difficult point: It is hardfor studentsto graspthetensein sentence
pattern “ How do you get to school” , “ do” should
change whenin different personnumerals.
【Theoretical basis】
According to theaim of newnational English curriculum, andjunior students im'portanceof beingpart of the class,and it is necessaryto arrange a teaching class as a process of learning actively and practicing in game to improve their ability to grasp, the class is
designed to aim at developing students c'ommunicating skill and interestof learning English.
II .An alysis of Teach in g Methods a nd Aids
1、According to the characteristicand the English level of junior students, junior 2 belongs to level 6 to level 7, it requires students to keep interest in English and could communicate with each other. So I plan to use the communicative method to teachthis lesson.
2、Teachingaids: pictures of words
Considering the requirement of the ability, pictures will make studentsfeel fresh about new words, and will have a good memory on them.
皿.Analysis of studentsandlearning strategies
1、Students: the junior 2 students have learned some skills,
English for them is familiar, so I should develop their
communicateskills andlearning skills.
2、Learning strategy:communicating with people is mainly their
strategy,for it obeys the communicative requirement in New
English Curriculum. And junior studentsneed communicating
with othersto keep interest i n English.
IV. Teach in gprocedure
Step1 Warming—up (6mins)
Show some pictures to studentsand let them recognize the traffic tools. Then ask some studentshow do they get to school and how long doesit take.
Step2 Listen andplay (10mins)
(1) I will let studentslisten a set of numbers, first we listen Arabic
numbersand studentsshould write down English, then let them listen English but they write down Arabic ones.
(2) Play a numbe—writing game, that is I read a set of number in
English and three of studentswrite on blackboard. At last, we will selectthe best one.
Step3 Listen and match (7mins)
I will draw four pictures on the blackboard, and write down some times. After finish listening, they should match the pictures andtimes. Step4 Pair work (8mins)
Every two studentspractice the sentencepattern “ How do you get to school” / “ I usually…” How long does it take” / “ It takes …”
Step 5 Grammar(10mi ns)
To teach students the sentence pattern “How do you get to school” / “ How do they get to school”“ How does he get to school” How long doesit take”
Step 6 Summary(4mi ns)
Summarize the knowledgewe learnedin this class.
