Foreverygeneration,thereisadestiny.Forsome,historydecides.Forthis generation,thechoicemustbeourown.
Evennow,arocketmovestowardMars.Itremindsusthattheworldwillno tbethesameforourchildren,orevenforourselvesmashortspanofyears. Thenextmantostandherewilllookoutonascenedifferentfromourown, BECauseoursisatimeofchange——rapidandfantasticchangebearingt hesecretsofnature,multiplyingthenations,placinginuncertainhandsn ewweaponsformasteryanddestruction,shakingoldvalues,anduprooti ngoldways.
Ourdestinyinthemidstofchangewillrestontheunchangedcharacterof ourpeople,andontheirfaith.
THEAMERICANCOVENANT
Theycamehere——theexileandthestranger,bravebutfrightened——tofindaplacewhereamancouldbehisownman.Theymadeacovenantwi ththisland.Conceivedinjustice,writteninliberty,boundinunion,itwas meantonedaytoinspirethehopesofallmankind;anditbindsusstill.Ifwe keepitsterms,weshallflourish.
JUSTICEANDCHANGE
First,justicewasthepromisethatallwhomadethejourneywouldsharein thefruitsoftheland.
